Emergency Care just for Kids
Our dedicated pediatric emergency departments are here to provide a complete
range of emergency services to care for children from birth through age 21.
Both locations are staffed with Manning Family Children’s pediatric
Emergency Care physicians, nurse practitioners, and pediatric nurses all
working together to provide comprehensive patient and family-centered
care for a wide variety of illness and injuries.
Manning Family Children's has the largest pediatric emergency department
in Louisiana, with 46 beds and seeing more than 50,000 patients per year
at our Main Campus location. The emergency department features fast track
and rapid assessment rooms, as well as dedicated trauma bays and a private
behavioral health pod.
This facility has
- access to over 40 pediatric specialties, including emergency pediatric
dental care
- the ability to transport patients from other facilities by fixed wing aircraft,
helicopter, or ambulance
East bank families can receive expert pediatric emergency care at Manning
Family Children's 24/7 Emergency Room in Metairie. The 11-bed ER is located
at 4545 Veterans Blvd., and offers access to specialized emergency care
for kids, in addition to scheduled imaging tests.

West bank families can also receive emergency care for kids at the Emergency
Department at West Jefferson Medical Center. Pediatric patients are cared
for by the hospital’s board-certified emergency medicine physicians,
who are trained to treat both children and adults. West Jefferson Medical
Center providers follow clinical protocols guided by Manning Family Children’s,
ensuring every child receives safe, high-quality, and compassionate emergency
care. Manning Family Children’s remains the region’s quaternary
pediatric emergency provider. If a child requires higher-level or specialized
pediatric care, they will be transferred to Children's Main Campus ED
for continued, specialized treatment.
