Lupus is a chronic, autoimmune disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of the body. Manning Family Children’s offers a Lupus Clinic to address the specific needs of these patients. This multidisciplinary clinic provides evaluation, treatment, and educational support for children and adolescents with lupus and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common form of lupus. Our expert team of providers, nurse navigators and other support staff from the Rheumatology and Nephrology departments focus on helping our patients control the disease and minimize long term complications that are most associated with lupus.
Dr. Anita Dhanrajani is a pediatric rheumatologist at Manning Family Children’s and serves as the service line chief for pediatric rheumatology. She specializes in childhood lupus and participates in several research studies focused on lupus outcomes. She is the director of the Lupus Clinic, conducted in partnership with the Nephrology department, and co-directs the Skin and Joint Clinic alongside Dermatology.
The Lupus Clinic takes place at the main campus at Manning Family Children’s on the second and third Wednesday of every month. This is an internally scheduled clinic, and patients are scheduled either by the rheumatologist or nephrologist who have performed an initial evaluation.
