You can set up a ride to and from your appointments. Medicaid needs at least 48 hours' notice. If someone who lives outside of your home drives you, they can get money back for gas. Please call the number for your plan that is listed above to ask for gas reimbursement applications.

If you prefer to use public transportation, the city buses, please call your medicaid plan at the number listed above to request “bus pass” support. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible to receive free bus passes to and from doctors’ appointments.
The RTA bus system in New Orleans provides rides on buses, streetcars, and ferries in Orleans Parish. Starting September 3, 2024, young people ages 16 to 24 can ride for free for one year with the Opportunity Pass. This helps make travel easier for those who need it. To sign up, visit a New Orleans Public Library or join through a group program.
Standard buses and streetcars are accessible for most disabled riders, but the RTA offers paratransit rides for those who can't use the regular system. This shared-ride service uses accessible buses and vans, costs $2.00 and requires advance reservations. Learn more>>
